Na jaren van intensief onderzoek binnen het NWO KIC Just Prepare project delen wij de resultaten met de praktijk.
Tijdens dit laatste Learning Lab presenteren wij de belangrijkste bevindingen. Wij hebben deze vervat in een set van handzame handreikingen voor de praktijk. Deze dragen wij symbolisch over aan betrokkenen uit het werkveld van de energietransitie.

BoTu Natural Gas-Free Partnership: An overview of the impact
Over the past year and a half, the Just Prepare Living Lab, located in the Bospolder Tussendijken neighbourhood of Rotterdam, has been working alongside various key partners from BoTu Aardgasvrij to find an answer to the question: How can we highlight the impact we are achieving, together with residents, as part of the BoTu Aardgasvrij initiative?

Een toolkit om de behoeften van bewoners centraal te stellen in renovatiekeuzes. Bij woningrenovatie worden beslissingen vaak gedomineerd door technische en financiële overwegingen, terwijl de dagelijkse zorgen van bewoners — comfort, betaalbaarheid, gezondheid, toegankelijkheid, erkenning van diverse huishoudenspraktijken — op de achtergrond blijven. Binnen Just Prepare ontwikkelden we een kaartgebaseerd serieus spel, de RenOlympics, samen met een set aanvullende materialen, om professionals, onderzoekers en beleidsmakers te helpen reflecteren op hoe rechtvaardigheid kan worden geïntegreerd in renovatiebesluitvorming, al vanaf de vroegste ontwerpfase.

On Thursday, April 23, Charissa Leiwakabessy (UvA), Anna de Zeeuw (HvA), and Rosa Koetsenruijter (HvA) organized a workshop on recognition justice in renovation and transition processes in a community room in the Rotterdam neighborhood of Bospolder Tussendijken.
A ‘double-eyed’ approach to a just energy transition in underprivileged neighbourhoods
An article was recently published that succinctly explains how the Just Prepare project aims to contribute to the energy transition in neighbourhoods with a dilapidated housing stock, limited economic vitality and a significant need for renovation. Yet there is often considerable resistance to renovation projects in these neighbourhoods. As a result, opportunities to give the energy transition a boost are being missed.
Workshop Highlight: Energy Justice in Housing Renovation (SHEP26)

Looking Back at Learning Lab 7: From Theory to Action in the Local Energy Transition
On February 11, researchers and industry partners gathered at the Urban Energy Institute at TU Delft for the seventh Just Prepare Learning Lab. Led by chairperson Sietske Veenman, the session focused on the question of how we can shape the local energy transition in a way that is both effective and equitable. Following introductions by Professor Henk Visscher and researcher Thaleia Konstantinou, the approximately 35 attendees actively engaged with the interim research findings.
Results of the Summer Comfort Survey
During the summer and winter of 2023/2024, we asked residents how they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Through photography, writing, drawings, and conversations, residents shared their experiences and knowledge about staying cool and warm in their homes. We spoke with families and single people, older adults and young people, people born in the Netherlands and people born elsewhere. Most of the people we spoke with were renters.
Diverse profiles and solutions for home renovations
On Tuesday, March 3, Iris Loche, a postdoc at Just Prepare at Eindhoven University of Technology, presented the results of her research on energy sufficiency in residential renovations to a multidisciplinary audience of researchers. The researchers gathered to discuss the theme “Energy Transition in the Built Environment,” which is coordinated by Roel Loonen and Lenneke Kuijer as part of the Eindhoven Institute for Renewable Energy Systems (EIRES).
