Workshop Highlight: Energy Justice in Housing Renovation (SHEP26)

Who stands to benefit from the energy transition, and who risks being left behind? During the next Sustainable Housing from a European perspective Summer School (SHEP26) at TU Delft, this crucial question is the focus of a workshop led by Just-Prepare researcher Diletta Ricci: Energy Justice in Housing Renovation.

In this workshop, participants will explore the complex world of energy justice. In addition to technical aspects, the workshop will focus specifically on how factors such as affordability, accessibility, and fairness shape the outcomes of renovation projects.

Under the guidance of Diletta Ricci, participants will tackle current and socially relevant issues. During the session, they will:

  • Explore the concept energy justice within the context of housing and renovation.

  • Analyze the practical challenges related to affordability and accessibility.

  • Gain insight into issues of fairness and inclusivity in collective renovation processes.

  • Reflect on the (sometimes unintended) impact of policy decisions on various social groups.

  • Work together to develop new ideas for a more inclusive and equitable energy transition.

The workshop is part of the SHEP26 program and offers a unique opportunity to reflect, together with other professionals and students, on the future of sustainable and equitable housing in Europe.

  • Date: 30 June - 10 July 2026
